Yoga milestones to celebrate

Once I got my schedule set in cement—at least in my own mind—and got myself to a yoga class consistently every day a class was offered, my body responded rather dramatically. After 2 weeks, I was able to do certain poses effortlessly, even some that I had never been able to do well with my semi-consistent practice of several years ago.  It was the consistency that made the difference.

Suddenly—though clearly it wasn’t that sudden—I was able to sit back on my heels again like a kindergartener.  I was able to stay in the Downward Facing Dog pose for a good length of time without my wrists (my poor, keyboard-abused wrists) screaming for mercy.  One pose seemed especially designed to fix the hip that had been giving me a lot of trouble lately.  I was sleeping better at night and getting out of bed in the morning without the usual Old Lady Groan. I felt the return of muscles in my torso, the ones that had long gone lax with my usual routine of sitting.

For the beginning of this fitness journey, see A metal cube of junk? That’s me.

Good for you Chris. Yoga is a great gift to your body. I didn’t realize these intermittent notes were actually from you. Keep it up.
