One of the ways I make sure I get exercise almost every day is by using an online calendar program that’s been with me for many years at MyYahoo.com. This calendar is now programmed to show me every Wellness Center class I could possibly want to attend on any given day. I have my favorites and then I have my back-ups or alternative classes also listed. Next, since I am my own boss, I programmed my work assignments and meetings around those class times in that same calendar. This way, if I can’t make a class because of a car breakdown or an unavoidable meeting, I can see at a glance what my exercise options are.
This calendar is available to me in no less than four different ways—one on-line site using my laptop, one on my iPod Touch, one small printed out version I carry in my purse, and finally I printed it all out on a big calendar above my desk in my home office. My husband also has access to this calendar so he can check my whereabouts for when he needs to make supper or plan to see me later than usual.
Every morning and every night—and sometimes midday as well—I remind myself what classes are happening that day and the next, what might screw up my plans for tomorrow and what my back-up plan is. I’m a visual person and as long as I can see the potential complications before they arise, I can plan ahead and adjust as needed.
Putting exercise into my calendar just like appointments that must be kept has helped me immensely. Each day I am more and more committed to making that exercise time set in stone, with everything else taking second banana.

[...] Once I got my schedule set in cement—at least in my own mind—and got myself to a yoga class consistently every day a class was offered, my body responded rather dramatically. After 2 weeks, I was able to do certain poses effortlessly, even some that I had never been able to do well with my semi-consistent practice of several years ago. It was the consistency that made the difference. [...]
